Intro to Comedy (Ages 17–Adult)

Enrichment for Adults and Families / Personal Interest/Hobbies -
Fall 2026

So, you think you're funny? In this class, budding comedians will utilize the basics of improv, act-outs, and creative thinking to develop a five-minute comedy routine. In the process, students will learn tips and tricks to overcome stage fright as well as improve their communications skills and confidence in public speaking.

Leon Purley

Hailing from Saint Louis, MO. (“The Show Me state”), the young Tulsa comic is no stranger to teaching his students the fun art form of comedy. As a 9 year veteran of telling and teaching comedy he would admit he has found his passion.

Over the years it had always been a dream of the Tulsa comic to share his gift of telling clean jokes on stage and teaching it off stage. He has a vision to see young kids and Adults learn the 9-strategies of effective joke-writing, so they can make the World laugh too.

Leon the Jokester enjoys seeing his students discover a whole new world of comedy using their creativity and imagination to create new jokes from scratch.

The most memorable moment was the open mic comedy graduation. Every student hit the stage with great confidence and made us all laugh with the tools and formulas they learned in the intro to comedy workshop.

The biggest take away from this class is for students to be a great public speaker, communicator, and hilarious comic all in 4 weeks
