Group Swim Lessons for Kids, Daytime Level 1 (Ages 5–14)

Jenks Trojan Aquatic Center / Swim Lessons -
Spring 2026

Group Swim Lessons for Kids in swim level 1.

From learning the basics like blowing bubbles and floating to mastering all the swim strokes—we cover it all at your child’s own pace. Along the way, we will teach swim survival skills to help build confidence and safety in and around the water. At the start of the session, we will skill-test each child to make sure they are placed in the appropriate level. Brought to you by Tulsa Lifeguard Pro, our lessons are packed with learning, plenty of encouragement, and endless smiles—helping children build skills that will last a lifetime.

Level 1: Recommended for ages 5–8 years. Introductory level “splashers”. Students are ready for this class when they can function in a class setting with parents watching from the deck. Kiddos in this age group who are very afraid or uncomfortable without direct support of parents are welcome to join us in the parent/child class as an intro to swim lessons, regardless of age.

Levels not included in this class:

Parent/Child: Generally, for little swimmers ages 6 months to 4 years. We do welcome older children who can benefit from this class as an intro to lessons. Parent/Child teams work with instructor in an intro to basic swim and water safety skills. This class is very low pressure, and we have a lot of fun while learning safety skills as well as water adjustment, balance, and movement in the water.

Level 2: Recommended for ages 5–8 years. Beginner swimmers. Students in this class should be able to submerge without help, float with little or no support, and doggy paddle a short distance. We will work on submerging up to 10 seconds, swim/float/swim, and other beginning swim survival skills.

Level 3: Recommended for ages 6–12 years. Beginner to intermediate swimmers. Level 3 swimmers might have completed Level 2, OR they might be older kids who are new to swimming. Either way, they are confident in trying new things, and ready to learn. Level 3 swimmers will develop proper head and body position on front and back, as well as practice intermediate level water survival skills.

Level 4: Recommended for ages 8–14 years. Advanced swimmers. Students are ready for this class when they show no fear/hesitation with water, can float on front and back with no support, jump into deep water, resurface, and swim at least 10 yards. Level 4 swimmers will develop many swim strokes and work on advanced water survival skills.

Level 5: Recommended for ages 8–14 years. Advanced swimmers. Swimmers will refine stroke technique and improve efficiency and breath control for all four strokes (front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly), as well as begin to build endurance for swimming longer distances with the introduction to competitive starts and turns.
