Beginning Spanish (Ages 17-Adult)

Enrichment for Adults and Families / Languages -
Spring 2025

This class is designed for beginners with no prior knowledge of Spanish. Students will develop the five key language skills: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and understanding culture. Using hands-on activities and individual practice, they will gain a strong foundation in the language. It’s a great starting point for those looking to learn Spanish in an engaging, interactive way. Participants should bring a notebook and a pen or pencil to class.

Sydney Sloat

Spanish Teacher

My name is Sydney Sloat and I am the 5th & 6th grade Spanish teacher at Jenks West Intermediate. I graduated from the University of Tulsa in 2022 and am certified to teach grades K-8th and Spanish in Oklahoma. I have been teaching for 2 and a half years. I decided to teach Spanish classes through Community Education to foster a love of learning the Spanish language with students of all ages. I really enjoy teaching Spanish because I had the best Spanish teachers growing up who helped me better understand the beauty and structure of the language. After taking this course, I hope that students will take away a deeper level of understanding and interest in the Spanish language to enhance their cultural knowledge of the world around us. Together we can take on learning the Spanish language together!
