Program Objectives

Our primary goal is to sustain boys volleyball at Jenks High School, ensuring that it thrives for years to come. We are committed to our vision of making boys volleyball an official school sport, legitimizing its place among the school's athletic programs. In continuing the tradition of excellence established by past teams, we aim to solidify our place in the school's history by making boys volleyball an official school sport. In addition to our competitive goals, we are dedicated to community involvement, fostering positive relationships in the school and surrounding area. Our program strives to perform at a state championship level, setting high standards for performance on and off the court. With unwavering dedication and shared goals, we work tirelessly to ensure that boys volleyball at Jenks remains a source of pride and accomplishment for years to come.

Program Motto: WIN

“W”— "We" means being a team, no ifs, ands, or buts. It's about supporting each other and the coach, no questions asked. Lean in, be coachable, do what you're told, and have each other's backs—fight together, not against each other. We're in this together, focused on winning as a team.

“I”— "Inspiring Perfection" means setting the bar high and striving for excellence in everything we do. We inspire perfection by demanding the best from ourselves and each other, pushing beyond our limits to reach our full potential. We chase greatness with relentless determination. And when coaches push us to our limits, we respond positively, using the challenge as fuel to drive us forward. That's what "inspiring perfection" is all about—setting the standard, embracing the challenge, and refusing to accept anything less.

“N”— "Nurturing Champions" refers to the holistic approach of supporting individuals to achieve victory. It involves taking care of oneself physically, mentally, and emotionally to optimize performance and overall well-being. This includes eating right to fuel the body for peak performance, as well as prioritizing self-care practices to maintain health and resilience. "Nurturing Champions" emphasizes the importance of attending to the details in training and everyday life to build a strong foundation for success. This comprehensive approach fosters a mindset of continuous growth, self-improvement, and dedication to excellence, ultimately leading to the development of champions in sports and in life.

Coach Andy Poplin

Head Coach Andy Poplin has been the driving force behind the Jenks Boys Volleyball Program since its resurgence in 2021. Under his leadership, the program has flourished, nearly tripling in size and attracting over 100 athletes in 2023. His guidance led Jenks to a third-place finish in the Oklahoma Boys Volleyball Association State Tournament. Last season, Coach Poplin also led his 16UA team to an awe-inspiring three top 10 finishes at National Qualifiers. Coach Poplin also brings extensive experience to the girls’ side of the sport, coaching for Oklahoma Charge and leading the 14UA team at Charge Tulsa this season.

With a decade of coaching experience, Andy has built a legacy of success, mentoring young athletes and leading teams to top finishes at national qualifiers. A Tulsa native, he played as a middle and earned a degree in petroleum engineering from The University of Tulsa. Balancing coaching, engineering, and family life, Andy’s passion for volleyball continues to inspire both on and off the court. His children, Addisyn and Wyatt, attend Bixby schools.

Coaching Philosophy

My coaching philosophy is centered around empowering my players to reach their full potential athletes and as individuals. I believe that every moment—on and off the court—presents an opportunity for growth and learning. By emphasizing values such as hard work, respect, and perseverance, I aim to cultivate skilled volleyball players and confident, resilient young men. I am committed to providing unwavering support during their time on the team—and long after, as they continue to navigate life's challenges and pursue their dreams. Together, we prosper on the volleyball court and build a strong foundation for success in all areas of life.
