STAFF SPOTLIGHT

Originally from Wichita, Coach Mitchell brings a powerful blend of talent, experience, and drive. A standout all-state swimmer at Maize High School, he went on to earn a swim scholarship to the University of Minnesota before completing his degree at Wichita State University. His journey reflects both artistic excellence and a deep commitment to the sport.

Under Coach Mitchell's leadership and a dedicated coaching staff, the Jenks Trojan Swim Club captured the 2026 14-and-Under Short Course State Championship. The momentum continued at the 2026 Speedo Sectionals where the team set three state records and took 13th place, improving from 16th the year prior. In addition, the boys' and girls' high school teams won state, with a combined total of 40 state championship titles.

If you're hoping to catch Coach Mitchell, plan to be poolside early—he's usually there by 6am, watching over the deck or pacing the length of the pool with unmistakable purpose. His thoughtfully designed, coach-written drill sets build muscle memory, sharpen technique, and push endurance. Coach Mitchell brings unmatched energy to every practice, challenging swimmers to rise to his level of intensity and commitment.
