Summer 2026

This intermediate pottery class is for students who have mastered the basics and are ready to explore more complex techniques and creative possibilities. You’ll refine your wheel techniques to create more symmetrical and intricate pieces, and explore advanced hand-building methods, trimming, and carving. We’ll also focus on glazing techniques, proper clay wedging, and troubleshooting to take your craftsmanship skills to the next level.

A $30 cash supply fee will be collected by the instructor at the first class. Prerequisite: Beginning Wheel & Open Studio or equivalent experience.

Kristine M Alcorn

My name is Kristi Alcorn and I have offered this course since 2018. I am an Art Teacher at Jenks West Elementary. I received my BFA in Studio Arts from Rogers State University, where I took 9 hours of 3D Art/Wheel Throwing at their Clay Lab. I love working with clay for so many reasons. It is a versatile, forgiving, and very therapeutic material to work with. I love to see what the clay becomes when I throw a piece on the wheel, and feel like magic happens when you take a newly glazed piece out of the kiln.

My name is Jamie Lents. I love all things arts, crafts, and creativity! I grew up in a house of artists and musicians and have tried to pass that passion on to my own children. Pottery has been a part of my hobbies since I was a teenager and love sharing tips, tricks, and ideas for how to make other's projects come to life!
