Beginning American Sign Language (Ages 13–adult)

Enrichment for Adults and Families / Languages -
Spring 2026

Are you interested in learning to speak a new language without saying a word? This course is a true "hands on" introduction to American Sign Language! We'll cover ABCs and 123s, common greetings, family signs, and so much more—all with plenty of fun games and practice. This intro course is the perfect first step toward learning to communicate with deaf individuals of all ages. A $20 cash book fee will be collected by the instructor at the first class.

Diana Emerson

Instructors are hired by Diana Emerson. Diana has worked in deafness for over 37 years and is at The Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges in the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Services area. She is also a nationally certified sign language interpreter and a former teacher. She will ensure that your instructor is a fluent signer, either deaf or hearing, who will encourage students to learn, wherever they are.
